When you get a diagnosis of Cancer, your life changes in an instant. While many other diseases are life-changing and life-threatening, the very word - cancer – carries weight, strikes fear … it means something. The idea of a war on cancer stirs images that are just as passionate, just as meaningful. No one can deny that this struggle is a great one, that this cause matters, and that people who get cancer surely need our help.

The conventional treatment of cancer saves lives. Surgery, radiation and chemotherapy have formed the basis of oncology for decades. Emerging therapies, including antibodies, vaccines and hormonal therapies are strategies that have begun to make outcomes even better. For some cancers, the currently available treatments do not offer much benefit, but for others they can be lifesaving.

If you have cancer, there are many things worth doing that are not typically addressed during routine cancer care. While some hospitals are beginning to discuss nutrition, an aggressive anti-cancer diet is not usually emphasized, and although a growing number of oncologists are recommend a nutritious diet during treatment, most do not recommend specific foods to their patients. Exercise is not aggressively promoted, even though several studies have suggested that it improves survival. Stress and emotional distress are not adequately treated, even though there is evidence that stress hormones play a critical role in the progression of all cancers.

There are also a number of vitamins, nutritional supplements, botanical medicines and other therapies that may help fight cancer. These medicines, usually referred to as Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) therapies, are often supported by a considerable amount of scientific research. Some have even been found effective in a number of double-blind randomized controlled trials. Most are ignored, either because the evidence is not considered strong enough, because doctors are not familiar with the evidence, or because they are not comfortable deviating from the standard of care practiced by their colleagues.

Our approach to treating cancer is based on clinical and scientific evidence. It is informed by the anecdotal experience of a worldwide network of physicians treating people with cancer. More importantly, it is based on a strong belief that we can help our patients live better – and longer. This is a controversial subject, but the patients we have treated who have experienced complete or partial remission of their cancers are the reason we are moving forward in this direction.

Our comprehensive program of Integrative Cancer Care will address your diet, your lifestyle and the health of your mind and spirit. It incorporates a number of unconventional therapies that are used at integrative cancer clinics around the world, including intravenous vitamin C, Viscum album injections, low-dose Naltrexone, melatonin, immunostimulatory medicinal mushrooms, low-grade IR hyperthermia and others.

We will also address underlying physical, chemical and emotional stresses that may have an impact on your body’s natural ability to recognize and deal with cancer on its own. This may include allergies, toxins, infections, injuries, nutritional imbalances and emotional traumas. This paradigm of treating the root causes of disease is the essence of our approach to treating all health problems, and we believe it should be the next revolution in medicine.

While it may not feel like one now, many patients observe that their illness is a teacher, and some eventually come to consider it a gift. It is definitely a catalyst for change, and offers the potential for profound spiritual and personal growth. We look forward to helping you on your healing journey.
