Energetic testing is a way to identify blockages or disturbances in the nervous system, and to find remedies that help eliminate those disturbances. This is done by exposing the nervous system to a variety of stimuli and looking for a healing response or relaxation response. This healing response can be identified using muscle tone, pulse strength, skin resistance and other functions that reflect the state of the sympathetic nervous system.

Practitioners have used energetic testing for decades, and have generally seen overwhelming improvements in their patients. Our experience has been the same. One commonly used method of energetic testing is Electroacupuncture according to Voll, or EAV.

EAV testing is a diagnostic tool that helps the practitioner identify energetic blockages in the body, and remedies that eliminate those blockages. EAV testing was developed in Germany over 50 years ago by Reinhardt Voll, a holistic medical doctor, in collaboration with a team of engineers. It led to the development of other electrodermal screening tools, including the Vegatest and others, but serious practitioners consider EAV to be the most accurate and reliable method.

EAV testing is performed using an instrument that measures electrical resistance, otherwise known as an Ohm meter. The testing is done by applying a small probe to the skin of the hands and feet on important acupuncture points. An abnormal reading at a specific acupuncture point suggests a problem with the flow of electricity or energy in the acupuncture channel, or meridian, that travels through that point.

This abnormal energy flow is often caused by a disturbance somewhere in the body. These disturbances or energy blockages have been recognized for thousands of years by Traditional Chinese Medicine and other eastern medical systems. Osteopaths refer to them as areas of somatic dysfunction, and physicians who practice neural therapy in Germany and around the world identify them as Störfeld or interference fields. They can be understood in modern scientific terms as disturbances in the autonomic nervous system.

These disturbances in the autonomic nervous system can be treated in a number of ways. One approach is neural therapy, using acupuncture needles, injections of local anesthetic or homeopathic remedies, lasers and other electromagnetic field therapies, on the affected body part. Another approach is to shift the body into a parasympathetic mode, also known as a yin state, so that it can be stimulated to heal itself. EAV testing can be used to identify remedies that restore normal electrical flow in blocked meridians, which helps shift the body into this healing state.

Energy medicine is based on the principle that substances can affect the body through vibration. All atoms and molecules vibrate, and their 3-dimensional structures create complex patterns of vibration. The nervous system perceives these different patterns of vibration and responds in one of three ways. One is a positive, pleasure, relaxation, healing response initiated by the parasympathetic nervous system. Another is a negative, pain, tension, stress response that involves the sympathetic nervous system. Finally, a neutral response is what most substances normally elicit.

These subtle vibrational patterns are waves that travel on an electrical current wave along a conducting wire. Their effect on the nervous system is measured by the EAV machine, which in turn, allows the practitioner to see and measure improvements in energy flow in the body.
